Quote of the Day

I always wondered as to why there is so much violence in this world. Why people keep fighting in the name of religion and such other things. Today, I came across the below quote by Jimi Hendrix and that pretty much sums it all "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." Well, I dont wanna add anything more to this! Peace to all!!! Cheers, HP
Will Arsenal be the new champions? This year's UEFA Champions League was quite interesting, to say the least. Definitely, there were no great matches as such. For me, most of the matches were either one-sided or it would seem that both the participating teams were just there to make the numbers. But, what interests me are the results. The results have been really interesting and barring Barca, no other team looked like they were playing Champions League. (pun intended) But,I digress. Somehow, Arsenal managed to reach the semis playing their brand of bland football. When Pele was talking about the beautiful game, he sure never saw Arsenal playing. I agree that some of the new players like Fabregas and Reyes are exciting prospects. But, I never like the way Arsenal play. And don't get me started on Henry. I always believed that he never plays against big teams and I still stand by it. Maybe the opposing teams keep him on leash but great players always unleash themselves at the

Nice Quote :-)

Loved this quote by Dale Carnegie. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. Cheers, HP

Google and Me

When I was in IX or X standard, I always wanted to study in IIT. Naah..Not because, they are such great centres of learning and all that. But, I really loved the IIT campus. I still do and I wish I had learnt there. For me, the IIT campus is one of the few green spaces that are available in Mumbai. And it is always a pleasure to take a walk in the entire IIT campus. I know it was a wrong reason for wanting to be in IIT, but ... Similarly, after I came into the corporate(or so called corporate) world, I started liking Google. For me, anything related to google, I needed to know about it. I used to spend a lot of time on net and a major portion of the time would be utilised by google and its various other initatives. And, then I had decided that I would work for Google. All those who have started laughing now can please leave the blog room. And Now.( The same way my teacher used to ask me to get out of the class.) I mean, I really waanna work at google and not simply coz of the nice pack

Joke Of The Day

Today's Joke Of The Day. Don Abu Salem has slapped a notice on filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and asked him to destroy the prints of his forthcoming film "Gangster". Apparently, he is miffed at the title of the film. In his own words, “Mein gangster nahin hoon, the film shows me in a bad light.”. Well, I agree. ROTFL. Read the full story here. Cheers, HP

Advani's Rath Yatra

Well, as Mr. Lal Krishna Advani embarks on another of his rath yatras, he might take time and dwell on Kaifi Azmi's words written during 92-93. "Mujhe maloom hai tumharey naam sey mansoob hain tootey huey sooraj Shikasta chand, kala aasmaan, curfew-zada rahein Sulagtey khel ke maidan, roti cheekhti maae'n Mujhe maaloom hai charo taraf jo ye tabahi hai Hukumat mein siyasat ke tamashe ki gawahi hai Tumhein Hindu ki chaahat hai na Muslim se adaavat hai Tumhara dharm sadiyon se tijarat tha tijarat hai Mujhe maloom hai lekin tumhe mujrim kahoon kaisey Adaalat mein tumharey jurm ko sabit karoon kaisey Tumhari jeib mein khanjar na haaton mein koi bum tha Tumharey rath pe to Mariyada Purshottam ka parcham tha!!" Hopefully, we don't get a repeat of what happened in India during the early nineties. God Bless India!!!! Cheers, HP

Just Another Rant

I read the below lines in Chandrachoodan Gopalakrishnan's blog. He had transalted a few lines of Bhaarathi in his post. Loved the lines and hence, I asked him permission to just use the translated verse in my blog and he was kind and gracious enough to let me use them. First, the lines Fear not my soul. Fear not Fear not when the world unites against Fear not the derisive stares and the looks cold Fear not the vagrant’s life, When you’ve lost everything you hold Fear not my soul. Fear not Fear not the seductress’s charms Fear not the venom, nor the burning tongue Fear not the enemy, taking up arms Fear not my soul. Fear not. When the world around you comes crashing down. After, he gave permission I wondered why not write a few lines about Bhaarati. First heard about Bhaarathi in school and was pretty impressed by a guy who was a nationalist poet. Dont know much about him as such, but a quick search in google brings up the below pages. Do go through them. They offer som

Two Songs Rocking the Charts for me

Ya Ali Reham Ali Oh..What a rocking song!!! It is simply because of songs like these that Emraan Hashmi ( of Ape-Sar fame ) has survived in this industry. And if makers are going to gives us such songs only if Emraan is present, then grudgingly I would accept that. For songs like these, I dont even mind Raj Babbar or even Armaan Kohli. :-) The other song that is really grovvy is Teri Deewaani by Kailash Kher. Totaly Sufi!!! Btw, Can we use the song "Ya Ali Reham Ali" to implore god to save us from Emraan ..hmnnn... Posting the lyrics here just like that. Lyrics courtesy Hindi Lyrics . ya ali reham ali ya ali yaar pe qurbaan hai sabhi ya ali madad ali ya ali yeh meri jaan yeh meri zindagi ishq pe mita doon luta doon main apani khudi yaar pe haan luta doon mita doon main yeh hasti ya ali reham ali ya ali yaar pe qurbaan hai sabhi ya ali madad ali ya ali yeh meri jaan yeh meri zindagi mujhe kuchh pal de purvat ke faki hampe chahat ke rahe bechain dil kab tak milen kuchh pal t

Alonso rules and Ferrari Rues

Yippeee!!!! Alonso wins!! What a breath of fresh air this guy is!! Renault has a swell good backup team and the results are there for everyone to see. This proves that teams with moderate size budgets too can compete at the highest level. And, I think Kimi is going to play a major role in this season. So, do keep a watch on Kimi.. And as for Ferrari, I think it is time for Schumi to retire from F1 like Sachin needs to do from Cricket. They have been the best ambassodars for the sport and they have given us enough joy on the sporting fields and it would be great if they leave the sporting arena as champion players.. Cheers, HP

Manchester United Challenges Chelsea

Now, I am really worried! Manchester United is really catching up with Chelsea. The Reds defeated Bolton while Chelsea drew with the relegation-threatened Birminghan City. While, I agree that a 7-point cushion is enough for Chelsea to cruise home but still, considering the past works of Sir Freggie, I think that United are going to give a good enough scare to Chelsea. Hope that Robben,Crespo,Drogba,Terry and co win their remaining matches and win the premiership in style. Cheers, HP "Chelsea Rocks!!!"

Bangalore Visit Story - Part II

In Bangalore, we always had interesting experiences with the auto-drivers. I have heard Mumbaikars complaining a hell of a lot about the auto-drivers in Mumbai. But, then they probably never had to encounter the Bangalore species of the same. We have something called meters in our autos in Mumbai. Yeah, the Bangalore ones also have that but they never are down. I mean, even if the auto is occupied the meter will never be down. They have their own rates and their own logic. Here, if it is beyond midnight the auto will charge double the fare. Fair Enough. In Bangalore, even if it 10:00 am in the morning, he will ask for double the fare( usually they settle for a round figure : 100 if it is within15-20 minutes, 200 if it is within 30-45 minutes. Beyond that, I don't have much experience). The very first day, we took an auto to the IGATE's office. He said the fare will be around Rs.100. After the morning experience, I didn't try to haggle with him in any language(leave alone Ka

Apologies for our mistake

Saw Aksar(read endured) yesterday. Our future generations are never going to forgive us for making a hero out of Emraan Hashmi. Really, I mean it. I would like to take this oppurtunity to beg forgiveness from the coming generation for this stupid mistake of ours and would like to point out that I rarely had a hand in making a hero out of an ape. Really, I have never seen an Emran Hashmi film in a theatre, so please remove me from your hate-list. Sorry..Sorry again... Cheers, HP

Bangalore Visit Story - Part I

I had said that I will be writing about my Bangalore visit soon. But, I kept postponing it because of lack of time. Yeah, really I am busy in my work. Believe me yaar. Now, Stop laughing, will you.. Reallly, I work... huh... Anyways... Well, I along with my colleague were supposed to go to Bangalore to do the transitioning of one project to the IGATE team sitting over there. Some guys from the IGATE team had already been to Mumbai, so we were already familiar with some of them which helped us in settling down quickly in Bangalore. We left for Bangalore on the morning of 20th by Kingfisher Airlines.(haha..Will not leave any chance of bragging about my visit by an aeroplane). The flight was on time and we reached Bangalore at around 8:30 am. It was my second visit to Bangalore but during the first time, I was accompanied by my cousin everywhere I went. So, I didn't have much idea about the roads/routes of Bangalore. So, this time deciding not to take any chances, we decided to take t

Better Writing

In one of the comments on this blog, Aniket chides me for my bad language and asks me to improve it. I humbly accept his criticism coz I am aware of my shortcomings when it comes to writing. I mean, I am not the one who writes really pathetically. But, then my writings are not from the top-drawer or for that matter, not even from the middle drawer :-) Sorry, Sorry for that, but I think that is expected if you do spend some time with Vinod,Snehal and group. Sorry for deviating from the topic. Coming back to the point raised by Aniket, I do need to improve myself which I am gonna do by writing more. Stop that groaning , you jealous crabs. Here, I want to improve and you are simply concerned with your own good-being. So,be prepared for more stupid writings in future. Cheers, HP
