Conscience..Whatz that??

Lately, I have been receiving a lot of mails from ppl who support the anti-reservation movement. Well, nothing wrong in that. But, some try to appeal to my conscience and ask me to take a stand now. And tell me how doesn't my conscience pricks me and all that. For them,I would like to say my conscience is dead. Yes, dead and burried. It has died a slow death but it is dead. It died first the day the masjid was fallen.. A little part died when riots broke all over Mumbai and ppl started killing each other.. Some part of it died when a series of blasts rocked Bombay and simply changed the way Bombay lived.. Some part of it died when Graham Staines and his sons were burnt alive... It died when ppl were killed coz they had skinned a dead cow.. It died when ppl died of starvation when there was food rotting in the godowns.. It died when I saw some ppl scrapping thru our leftovers just coz they were expected to earn their food that way by virtue of being born in some god-dammned caste...

Favourite-Favourite :-)

Since, the world cup is just days away, it makes sense to pay favourite-favourite :-) Yep, its that time of the year when you can make predictions and all. Also, you can lay bets on ur fav team. So, here I go. For me, the below three teams have a wonderful chance of laying their hands on the trophy. 1) Brazil (Expected) 2) England (Best Team Till Date) 3) Argentina More elaboration as to why I consider them the favourites to win will follow. Till then, keep kicking :-) Cheers, HP [ Cross-Posted at FutbaalRockers ]

Calvin & Hobbes

Always had been an ardent reader of Calvin and Hobbes strips. And, I love Mid-Day simply for that. They introduced me to the wonderful world of Calvin. Can't really pinpoint as to why I liked Calvin so much. Maybe, I connected to him at some level :-) Some Priceless Calvin moments or one-liners,IMHO "Life is unfair, but how come it's never unfair in my favor?" "Dad, how come you live in this house with mom, instead of in an apartment with several scantily clad female roommates." (Just love the way Calvin interacts with his Dad and the constant polls with which he constantly bombards his Dad, simply priceless) "Why should I work for any results? Its almost as if I dont deserve it !" Exactly my thoughts :-) Calvin sez - "I'm a man of few words" Then Hobbes says "If you read more, you can increase your vocabulary!" "Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is th

Barca Rulezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

So, the expected happened. Barca became the UEFA Champions. As the season progressed this time, it was becoming more and more apparent that Barca were the team to beat this year. And coming into the finals, Barcelona were poised to lift the Champions Trophy. But, one team Arsenal was determined to make history and promised an entertaining match to the fans. I spent the better part of the night waiting for the match to start. Dad started getting a bit restless seeing me awake beyond midnight. And the old taunt of never staying late to study surfaced. But, yesterday everything was taken into the stride. Even gave a brief introduction of the Champions League to him. Finally, he slept murmurring something about 22 players fighting for a ball and all. But, I digress.. Anyways, coming to the match, Arsenal were aggressive right from the beginning which was not quite surprising actually. In the pre-match analysis, the pundits were discussing about the fact that Barca might just be wary of th

India-Pakistan Future

Saw a video at the below linked blog. Real cool video which depicts a debate in a school in Pakistan. The debate is on the nuclear tests conducted by Pakistan. More such debates at the ground level and more interactions would help the coming generations to live in peace. Enough of my blabber. Below is the link. http://crawls.blogspot.com/2006/05/future-certainly-looks-promising.html/ Cheers, HP

Important Notice Prior to the FIFA World Cup :-)

Got the below excerpt in a forward. And, well what should I say. It is pretty apt that I include that on the blog. :-) Extremely important advice and recommendations to be passed on to wives, girlfriends, fiancés, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc.(to all women in general) These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July this year... LIST OF RULES From 9th June to 9th July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye). If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling o

Questions and Answers

I have been reading Scott Adam's blog Dilbert for quite a while now. And yeah, I am a big fan of Dilbert(moi meant the cartoon strip). Scott sometimes just asks some questions and then it is fun to read some of the comments which try to answer the questions posed by Scott. And at the best of times, Scott asks some real good and pertinent questions and one thing that is good about him is that he rarely concerns himself with political correctness. So, we get to see some real heated opinions on his blog. Surely, I don't agree with all his points or comments(sometimes he comes across as a right-conservative) but it is fun to go through his blogs. Have a dekho there if you have time!! Cheers, HP

Feel the Blues!!!

Yippeee!!! Chelsea thrash Man Utd. 3-0 and lift the trophy. What a fitting way to stop all the nonsense of Man Utd. catching up with Chelsea :-) Yeah, I know I also was amongst the doubters but then I should say that I believed in Jose more than the players. For me, that man has been the reason Chelsea has been doing so well in the last couple of seasons. Sure, the oil money helped but money can take you only that far. Case, in example, Real Madrid. Hope all the talk about Jose leaving the club does not turn true. He might be eccentric but surely, he knows his job and that's what matters really. Chelsea currently are a very good team and with some non-peforming players leaving the club and some performers joining it, moi thinks it might just be able to perform much better next year. And, now Jose needs to concentrate on bringing more trophies to Stanford Bridge. And most importantly, John Terry should lift the Champions Trophy next season. "We are the winners, We are the champ

Quote of the Day

I always wondered as to why there is so much violence in this world. Why people keep fighting in the name of religion and such other things. Today, I came across the below quote by Jimi Hendrix and that pretty much sums it all "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." Well, I dont wanna add anything more to this! Peace to all!!! Cheers, HP
Will Arsenal be the new champions? This year's UEFA Champions League was quite interesting, to say the least. Definitely, there were no great matches as such. For me, most of the matches were either one-sided or it would seem that both the participating teams were just there to make the numbers. But, what interests me are the results. The results have been really interesting and barring Barca, no other team looked like they were playing Champions League. (pun intended) But,I digress. Somehow, Arsenal managed to reach the semis playing their brand of bland football. When Pele was talking about the beautiful game, he sure never saw Arsenal playing. I agree that some of the new players like Fabregas and Reyes are exciting prospects. But, I never like the way Arsenal play. And don't get me started on Henry. I always believed that he never plays against big teams and I still stand by it. Maybe the opposing teams keep him on leash but great players always unleash themselves at the

Nice Quote :-)

Loved this quote by Dale Carnegie. Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. Cheers, HP

Float Gaatha

Got the below lines from a fwd. Really, some of the lines are very much reflective of a person who is going through his bench phase or the float phase as we call it in our company. Wonder, where we keep floating!! Humne socha shayad hum hi hain bench pe, Par bench waalo ka to Kafila nikla, Dil ne socha Shikayat kare senoirs se, Par woh bhi bench wale nikla. mail bheja original samaj ke lekin woh bhi repost nikla Original message bheja tha dost ne magar usko bhejne wala bhi main hi nikla socha thoda chat kar lu magar doston ka status Away nikla phir khayal aaya dormitory ka jake dekha ,ek senior wahi se bahar nikla mili kahi se ek link utilization check karne ki magar non-utilization 100% nikla Baat jab hui Appraisal ki kya naseeb ,woh bhi mock nikla Bulaya PM ne sabko meeting me project aa raha hai sunkar mein boardroom ke bahar nikla bas chalta hai roj ye silsila aur is tarah ek aur din bench pe nikla Cheers, HP
